Dumb Wisdom

I must say, if i take a look at myself six months ago , i think, “gee i was pretty foolish back then”. Six months from now I’ll probably say the same thing. Should i be proud of my advancement? or humbled by the fact that my wisdom always ends up being foolishness? The later seems to be the smarter option.
Anyways, I’m amazed at how brilliant we humans can sometimes be, (I’m speaking in terms of wisdom). Sometimes our answers are just so good, our words are just so perfect, our arguments so smooth…just magical! But alas! It is all nothingness. Simple things in life put wise things to shame, all our thinking put together doesn’t touch the simplicity and beauty of knowing God. Christianity is complicated, religion is complicated, philosophy is complicated, its all for the wise. This dumb wisdom comes in our way when we try to get to know God. We forget Jesus’ words:
I promise you this. If you don't change and become like a child, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven. Mat. 18:3
Am I saying we should abandon wisdom? No. Am i saying we should not strive to be very well learned? No. Surely these things provide a solid foundation for our faith. Nonetheless, all of our wisdom is dumb. Those who fear God and humble themselves are light-years ahead of our brilliance.

  1. Very true. It's sort of like "natural" wisdom vs. God's wisdom. Or even knowledge vs. actual wisdom...what we learn is made perfect by the wisdom of God.
