Too many people are preaching what peoples itching ears want to hear, too many ministries are conforming to the pattern of the world (in that they are driven by the majority). For example, people want to feel good about themselves and told how to get rich. So, a teacher will teach them what they want to know. The rest of the people who want solid food and strait forward truth, are left searching to find someone who can speak that into their lives.
I've noticed a fairly simple 'idea' amongst mostly everyone, the idea is that 'majority rules'. We are taught that majority rules from a young age. In Sunday school who wants to sing 'this little light of mine'? Majority rules. In schools: 'will we play rugby or cricket?', majority rules. When you’re 18, 'will Billy or Bob be president?' Majority rules! I'm not saying that these things are all wrong but I'm saying that we have a mindset that has gone unchallenged. (at least not challenged in the right way)
Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." If we go with the majority...we end up going the wrong way. I'm not saying we should instead follow the minority. We should rather be Christ followers, didn't He say, "follow me"? Not, “follow my ideas” or “follow the blessings that come from me” or “follow my popularity”. What the world demands, “Christians” supply. Like a foolish parent who gives their screaming child everything it asks for, instead of what it really needs.
